Networking in the Age of AI

Networking in the Age of AI

Take it from MoralesHR’s resident naysayer – former art major, self-described writer, and prospective ecology and wildlife science student – AI is impressive.

Born at Good Samaritan Hospital in 1995 and raised all over Silicon Valley, I’ve had a front row seat my whole life to the many changes our growing tech industry wrought on society, for better or worse. I came of age as smartphones and social media redefined connection on global, interpersonal, and all the other levels in between; saw those old strip malls and neighborhoods my grandfather knew as orchards give way to late-modern plate glass and shining chrome steel.

Growing up, my future was inextricably tied to the kind of opportunity and optimism that propelled our founder and my mother, Shelly Morales, from her earliest days as a receptionist to the industry leader she is today. My past grounded that experience with an awareness of the foundation on which that was built – a diverse array of people and ideas building, informing, and often failing upon each other to bring us to the current day. These two extremes often leave me at a cautious arms length, appreciating every new advancement for the solutions they find while acknowledging the problems they often create (as I’m sure some of our community members figured out when they tried to find me on LinkedIn after we met).

Over the last year I’ve spent getting to know the diverse array of professionals who signed up to join MoralesHR’s candidate community, from entry to executive, this dichotomy has never been more apparent. Nearly all have expressed some level of dismay at the state of recruiting today – both as prospective employees and as leaders looking for their perfect match. Automation has made it easier than ever to cut through the noise, this much is true. In recognizing patterns and isolating ideal variables nothing is more efficient, and it’s only getting better by the day. As a boutique recruiting firm with a small but dedicated staff we use it too – we’d be crazy not to – but employers and recruiters don’t have a monopoly on this technology, and while they might have started with a slightly better hand the noise coming in is only getting more complex. More refined.

This ever-accelerating technological race will no doubt produce wonders. Already, AI and machine learning have shown great promise not just for workplace efficiency, but also in many fields of scientific study and creative expression. For all the solutions they offer, MoralesHR recognizes the problem so many of them fail to: what about us? The humans, talented and curious and alive, who these systems are supposed to enable and serve?

Our solution is nothing new. Throughout her career, Shelly Morales recognized the value of networking. MoralesHR brings that old, tested method of connecting people and opportunities to a new and changing world. In building a community of talented individuals, meeting and speaking with every single one to understand them as more than resume bullet points, we cut through the noise to provide the perfect candidates for our clients. Likewise, those candidates get to tell their story and put their best foot forward to someone who will listen and advocate for them, rather than waiting for the “yes” or “no” they might never receive through traditional applications.

If you like the sound of that, whether you’re looking to make that next hire or on the market for your next opportunity, I encourage you to Join the Community and meet with one of our team members to see how MoralesHR and our growing community can best serve you.
